Advocates for Faith & Freedom, on behalf of Election Integrity Project California (“EIPCa”) and Rolando Chinea, is appealing a lower court decision that dismissed serious concerns about Ventura County’s handling of vote-by-mail ballots during recent elections. EIPCa asserts that county officials, led by Mark Lunn, violated California Elections Code Section 15104 by obstructing public observers from properly overseeing critical steps in the election process, including signature verification, adjudication, and ballot counting. According to EIPCa, these obstructions undermined transparency, accountability, and the ability to challenge potential irregularities, raising significant questions about the integrity of the election. They argue that the court's narrow interpretation of the law failed to address all the procedures meant to safeguard free and fair elections.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about election oversight and the need for accountability in the administration of vote-by-mail ballots. EIPCa’s lawsuit is a vital effort to uphold the rights of election observers and ensure that established procedures are followed, particularly in a state where election integrity has increasingly come under scrutiny. By seeking to reverse the lower court's decision, EIPCa is standing up for the right of the public to observe, challenge, and hold election officials accountable to prevent potential mismanagement or fraud in future elections.
