The lawsuit challenges the School District's directive banning Ms. Esquivel from bringing her Trump-themed backpack and water bottle to campus, as well as the decision to place her on involuntary leave and suspend her without pay for bringing those items to school.

The Court classified Pastor Hodges’ personal religious beliefs as political rhetoric not protected by the First Amendment. By classifying his religious beliefs as political rhetoric and upholding Pastor Hodges’ removal from the Advisory Board, the Court created an unconstitutional litmus test based on religion for those who wish to hold office.

The Jurupa Unified School District Board approved a settlement agreement between Jessica Tapia and the Jurupa Unified School District to settle her lawsuit for $360,000. Last year, Advocates for Faith and Freedom filed a lawsuit challenging Jurupa Unified School District in the Central District of California after the wrongful termination of public school teacher Jessica Tapia for her religious beliefs.
