After more than a decade of service as a medical assistant, Sarah Plath lost her job at Kaiser Permanente after requesting a religious accommodation to its COVID-19 vaccine mandate. A devout Christian, Sarah believes receiving the vaccine would violate her sincerely held religious convictions regarding the sanctity of life, bodily integrity, and obedience to God. Despite her willingness to comply with alternative safety measures, Kaiser denied her request and ultimately terminated her employment.
Advocates for Faith & Freedom is representing Sarah in a lawsuit, alleging religious discrimination, retaliation, and failure to accommodate under federal and California law. This case seeks to defend the rights of employees to live and work according to their faith without being forced to choose between their religious convictions and their livelihood.
